OHHHHHMYGOD. I loved ur clingy codependent bf azul so much. I literally felt a bit of anxiety reading it, I love azul sm hes baba, but the thought of him being this obsessed ans codependent is so nerve-wracking. you really wouldn't be able to leave him alone once he starts exhibiting signs of mental health issues.. and if this is an au where he has his canon octo form, then hes def the type to cut a tentacle or two of his just to "prove" how serious he is, knowing it will grow back eventually anyway so why not make the most out of it and scare the hell out of darling 😭

UGH AND THE WEDDING TRAPPING. and the fact it only spirals downwards from there. the door and knife scene literally made me pause bc omg.. I was not expecting it to escalate like that.. but it fits SO well!! and darlings realization throughout the drabble is honestly so upsetting because acknowledging that most of their attempts will be futile is so frustrating and hope-killing when they have a slimy and pathetic octo clinging to them 😭😭 and especially now considering how close they and azul are, legality wise. REALLY, I don't know what's so different about this compared to your azul drabbles, but it really had me pacing a little im ngl. maybe it's the fact hes way more blatantly insane and blunt with his obsession or that he's willing to go to more extreme measures? whatever it is, you nailed it and I absolutely loved it!!

and this on a different, more minor note, but are you the same author that wrote the ex scara stuff? reading the azul drabble took me back to this other codependent, obsessed bf drabble i read a few months back. it wad about darling and scara being high school sweethearts, but scara becomes more unstable throughout the relationship, so darling eventually breaks it off with him before going to college. only for ex bf scara to show up, feign innocence and squish himself into darlings friend group as a way to get close to them again, and it ends with scara also wedding trapping them. if u did not write that, I am so sorry 😭 the azul piece just kinda reminded me of it but theyre two separate things and I love each one sm!! srsly, your writing is so addicting I don't understand how you do it. and you pace things so well, like despite the azul piece not being a fully fledged fic, it still has nice pacing. it's not too short or too lengthy, and not too fast or too slow, it keeps you alert and eager to continue!!

An Azul who is so dangerously unhealthy and obsessed is always a scary thought. I wanted to write something where it starts seemingly innocent and then becomes something so uncontrollable, much like how most toxic relationships often begin. It’s small and almost cute until it isn’t—until you’re snuffed from the stifling nature of someone’s codependent behaviors. It can be stressful, so I wanted to portray that on both sides. Stressful for Azul because his tendency to panic and overthink when he’s spiraling makes anything like a day out with friends seem like a very stressful thing. Stressful for Reader because they’ve taken on the role of protecting Azul from himself (even though it isn’t a role for them to take on).

Reader probably likens Azul to a glass vase sitting on the edge of a cliff and one strong gust of wind is all it takes for that vase to come crashing down. But then Azul is also highly intelligent and he only takes risks if he knows there will be a reward, so he can peer over the edge of the cliff and he won’t fall. So if he does cut a tentacle or two to prove something to Reader (or scare the life out of them and force them to stay), he does it while fully knowing it’ll grow back. It still hurts, but then Azul thinks this pain is nothing compared to the pain he’ll feel if you leave him forever. “Leave” and “abandon” are so interchangeable for him. They’re somewhat similar words, but “abandon” sounds harsher. You can leave a person and all is well. You can abandon a person and that makes it sound wrong. Hurtful and villainous. It’s such a small thing, but it hooks you every time. Because leaving Azul makes it sound easy. But abandoning him paints you as the bad one—the one who abandoned him in his time of need.

And marriage trapping!!! He’s really so cunning, but Reader’s too busy trying to balance his breakdowns and keep him above the water to realize that beneath all of that he’s actually quite smart. In a marriage, it’s just you and Azul. No one else can truly interfere with that. And for Azul it’s easier to isolate you. You agreed to be his now. You agreed to live with and love him for the rest of your life. You said your vows. You kissed him in front of family and friends. You are a pair now, and that’s unbreakable. Not even divorce can save you because that’s an expensive and lengthy process and even if you did separate in that way you’d still be forced to fret over him and what he might do next. And that’s really scary! The idea of “okay, he’s done this terrible thing…but what’s next?” is always so chilling. What else is this person capable of? is a frightening question to ask when you don’t have an answer. When there isn’t a line to make a clear divide between the crossable and uncrossable or when that line is blurred, it makes it seem like anything is on the table. And since Azul is so codependent, there are always worrying mindsets like: If you aren’t in my world, I shouldn’t be here either. If I can’t have you, no one can. If I lose you, I lose a vital part of myself. My life hinges on you being here with me, so if you’re not in my life there isn’t a life to live. Without you, everything is worthless and meaningless.

Thank you again for liking this piece!! I’m glad it felt different from other Azul thoughts I’ve written. It’s most likely as you’ve said: he’s much more insane and willing to go to extreme lengths for the sake of his obsession. >_< this type of Azul is truly horrifying, but he’s very interesting to write and analyze like this.

You know on the Lucy thing. I'm not really worried about her because of you Buck and consent meta. It was always something that I was aware of with Buck, people taking advantage. But your meta made it more clear. I think they have transitioned him into more of a mentor and I don't think that's a power dynamic he would cross with any character like Lucy or Ravi. All the relationships on 911 are very peer balanced.

And with Eddie yes like early on it was Lucy being the female Buck but that was just the first episode u know. It doesn't mean she would be like Buck towards Christopher and Eddie at all.

And yep, he's def not someone who would ever cross that type of line deliberately. In 514, he was there for Lucy as someone who had once before been where she was in that specific moment. Does that make him a fully fledged mentor? I'd tend to say not. Any moment now, they can play it like she's caught up to where he's at. And there is no actual rank gap. I do think the getting him to drink more than he meant to (leading to the kiss and what she clearly hoped would be sex, too) is something they should address, but who knows. Especially since they later have her say she was extremely drunk as well, which seemingly turns it from a consent issue to an issue where these two are both self-destructive morons and shouldn't be allowed to play together unsupervised. I’m not sure, but I think that’s what they tried to imply when she said that to Greenway.

I also agree with you that Lucy isn't an actual female copy of Buck, her 511 introduction is probably meant to reflect his in 101, while her arc in 514 is a parallel to his in 102. But without a doubt, beyond that, they're very different. Not to mention, Buck has grown so much since the beginning of s1, there's no comparison between him today and the little self-diagnosed sex addict secretly craving love baby he was back then. Just think of where Lucy's at in 514, versus where he is, having helped a colleague a bit, but mostly being preoccupied with putting his husband and their little family back together. So when we got her hating on marriage on top of that? Yeah, they're not the same character at all.

However, I did still almost choke laughing at the thought of a Lucy and Eddie hook up, because "female Buck" is how the show chose to promote Lucy. They can't erase it, and now if they try to "no homo" Buddie by having a Lucy and Eddie get together, it'll be the gayest "no homo" in the history of closeted Hollywood... Which is saying something! XD

I love Milan so much! He’s portrayed as the perfect combination of ‘I’m gay and proud and I don’t have to live by heteronormative standards of relationships’ and being unbelievably sweet and wanting something like what Robbe and Sander have. He is my favorite representation in an Eskild. Gay men can be wild and soft

I gotta admit I like a lot of the Eskilds but I sorta of hate how they wrote Milan in s2. No queer adult should ever try to kiss a possible queer teen. End of period and I saw the clip again here and am sorry he def is trying to kiss Robbe.  Also that s2 writing of Milan is so OOC. The Milan we know would never do something like that. Milan jokes and he is silly but he is also highly informed on queer history and culture. I hate that s2 Milan plot and also the fact that Robbe apologized and they tried to play it off like Milan wasn’t trying to do that because probably after the fact the writers got told how icky it comes off. Also why would Robbe a minor apologize for the actions of an adult trying to touch him without his consent. Umm no! It literally made my blood boil. Especially for Milan because his character is such a fairy god papa to Robbe. Milan is so thoughtful particularly in that moment where they are sitting on the couch and Robbe ask “how do you know if someone is gay” and Milan clocks Robbe ruminating on what he is saying but he doesnt push Robbe for more information he sorta of gives him the extra minute to process his thoughts or continue asking whatever question is on his mind. Milan does that a lot for Robbe throughout s3 and when he holds his emotions in place when Robbe tells him about the attack and breaks down afterwards because he knows that Robbe has experienced a hate crime and he isnt really even fully out yet.  I am happy that in s3 they humanized Milan and then more so in wtfockdown with the cyber sex talk. 

I love this scene too because queer culture embraces hook up/free love culture a lot but at the same time you dont need to engage in that if you dont feel comfortable. Your tribe and or your people are the people that respect and appreciate your boundaries. This is also a very beautiful notion that Milan passes down to Robbe but its also funny because he is also like it can be romantic or like just fuck it do it for the camera hahahaha. An Eskild to heart truly. I just wish Milan was the one that had apologized and they actually discuss Robbe’s use of slurs in s2 it actually would have made more sense as to why Robbe uses that slur again against Sander even after Milan talks to him about it. Lastly tho Milan is def the most caretaker or papa bears of the Eskilds but the sweetest is 1000% Hans tho. Hans is such a pure soul and the fact that he takes Matteo to church to find some calm is just such a Hans thing to do. Also the fact that he sits Matteo down is like “ok let me break out the safe sex must do’s” was hilarious especially because Matteo is so shy you know he wanted to die on the chair. Flippo is also amazing because you know Marti just appears on his doorstep every two weeks with a list of questions that Flippo needs to walk him through as he is full fledge panic mode. Mika is hella bitchy but Lucas is bitchy too so they are actually perfect together. They just sit their throwing shade and reading each other to filth I can see it now.

Reveling in Richonne

#39: The Deer Drop (7x4)

So, y’all, Negan is a fool. 😂  He has no idea that his downfall just strutted past him in this scene lol. 

After Rick and Michonne’s heartfelt talk, we see Michonne, with the deer around her, looking like a full fledged boss as she walks past Negan.  (Side note: The subtle surprised/sad look Michonne gives, when she notices Daryl, is so great and Danai truly can act without uttering a word.👏🏽)

As Michonne walks past Negan, I was like, "Uh, Negan, do you see this queen strutting past and mad dogging you right now? She's going to be your undoing, bruh." 😂  Cuz Michonne is Rick’s rock and so as long as Rick has her, Negan will never fully break him. It’s so interesting to see her walk past Negan because he really has no idea just how crucial this woman is to Rick and just how much she can change the whole game. 

Like I really feel like even just her presence back in ASZ made the vibe feel different there. It felt like there was a certain strength and power reinstalled in the community. Even Rick feels more whole, like he’s def still very broken, but you can tell that this day sucks just a little less when she’s there. Negan enjoys targeting leaders, but he just lets Rick’s leader walk right past him. Did I mention he’s a fool? 😋 

I love this moment because it says so much. One; it says that Michonne has agreed to Rick’s request even though she doesn’t necessarily like it. Two; it says that Michonne is over Negan and she’s not afraid to give him a look that shows him that. Three; This whole scene is proof that Rick and Michonne can’t quite hide or downplay how much they care about each other. (Nor should they)

Four; Michonne walks ahead of Rick and, if my eyes don’t deceive me, Rick keeps his eyes on her. He only looks at Negan once Negan starts speaking. It lets you know, once again, that they’re not on the same page but they are still a unit. And it's tough seeing Rick walking behind her cuz there's still this distance between them, and that’s just not the way they’re meant to be. But what I love about this shot of them walking, is that it really looks like Rick’s following the woman who leads him. 

And five; that deer drop tho. 

So as Michonne walks past Negan, holding this deer, the message is loud and clear; this woman is fierce. I love that Michonne has no fear when glaring at Negan. Like she knows to be somewhat subtle with it, but she’s also making it clear that she’s not feeling him even a little bit. Let him know, sis! 

And Rick has an alibi at the ready when he tells Negan he thought she was scavenging but she was hunting. It's sweet that this is Rick, once again, trying to protect her. In the words of Drake, this is Rick being like, “I think I’d lie for you” lol. And it's crazy cuz Negan has no idea Rick is talking to him about his wife and his rock. 

And when Rick hands over the gun, Negan tells him, “This is something to build a relationship on”. The scene cuts to Michonne when he says this, as she literally looks like she could murder him right then and there. Overlapping this shot with that line of dialogue isn’t a coincidence. But the irony is that, as much as Negan should be something that breaks Richonne, he really is only going to make their relationship stronger in the long run.

And then Rick heartbreakingly tries to make one last request and ask if Daryl can stay. It’s really sweet that Rick’s willing to take yet another risk and make a request for someone he cares about. And I almost feel like even the courage he musters to do this, has to do somewhat with the fact that his source of strength is back home. But, of course, Negan tells Rick he can't have Daryl back and Daryl's not about to plead his case cuz he knows there's no use. 😥 

I like that Michonne stays with that deer around her and she's surrounded by Saviors with literally zero fear. Like she could have just gave up the deer and left but she stays standing right in the mix of them. Even surrounded by all these dangerous men, her only concern is Rick’s conversation with Negan. She looks like if Rick were to say the word she would go into fight mode on the spot. 

(Side Note: It’s crazy seeing Rick, Michonne, and Daryl all around Negan in this scene. Like these are the baddest of the bunch, but right now Negan has them all enslaved. He doesn’t even realize these three are basically apocalyptic all-stars lol...But he’ll learn.)

So Negan lets Rick know he expects something interesting for next time and it’s interesting cuz this is Michonne’s first time seeing Negan degrade Rick today. You know it frustrated her to her core to see Negan bully her man.

And then Negan tells Arat to grab the deer before they head out...But see, Michonne isn’t your average chick. So they might’ve thought she was about to just softly hand this deer over, but Michonne was like...

And Homegirl drops the deer and mad dogs Negan, one last time, before fiercely turning and walking away. Queen. 👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏾👸

I love that in one final act of defiance for the day, Michonne drops the deer. It really does feel like a “drop the mic” moment. And talk about making an entrance and exit! Like I know everybody in the vicinity took note of her. You can actually see a Savior sort of take note when she walks away lol.

It’s actually a super big deal that Michonne drops the deer this way. It’s bold and it lets you know Negan has not ripped the fight out of her. I feel like, in her eyes, Negan is a dead man walking it’s just a matter of time. She might not be able to cut Negan up right here but she still makes a statement. This is still the Michonne. And the Michonne does not take kindly to governors, tyrants, and triers of Rick Grimes. 

It’s so clear in this moment that she’s beyond frustrated with their situation and this oppression and she’s unafraid to hide it. And when she drops the deer she then turns and walks further into that Savior crowd cuz she is unfazed by any of them.  (Side note: Notice the two people who most visibly defied Negan today are Carl and Michonne. Grimes 2.0 ain’t nothing to play with, y’all.)

Seeing Michonne drop the deer is where Rick can’t quite hide his emotions. He doesn’t take his eyes off her and he physically steps forward when she walks away. *magnets*

Negan decides to take one more petty jab at Rick by commenting on how he loves a girl that buys him dinner and yada, yada, yada. It's literally like the last straw of the day for Negan to now be making suggestive jokes unknowingly about Rick's woman. 

But Rick doesn't even seem to notice Negan's taunting at this point. He's almost completely preoccupied with that fact that Michonne is so clearly unhappy right now. 

I feel like this Negan reign is extra difficult for Rick and Michonne due to their intertwined well-beings. Rick’s not okay and so Michonne is even more not okay. And Michonne’s not okay so, as we see in this scene, Rick’s even more not okay too.

I love that Rick’s focus is on Michonne here, even with Negan right in his ear. I was like, Negan, a Richonne moment is happening right before your eyes, bruh. So stop talking cuz...

But on another note, Negan’s comment could make you wonder if he took some minor note of Michonne, not necessarily as Rick’s significant other, but as someone Rick obviously cares about.

I feel like there might be two reasons for Rick’s concerned expression here. One is because he’s so legitimately pained that she’s unhappy. This is a man who loves getting things for her and now he’s had to ask her to give up something. And, even though Michonne would never hold this against him, you can tell Rick personally feels that he’s let her down. 

But two; I also think the concerned expression is because he's like “Dang, my girl is kind of unafraid of Negan” cuz she wanted Negan to know she was #overhim when she dropped that deer. But, because Rick was so broken in that lineup, and is taking on so much of the guilt, he’s more in a place to just take the hits. And I think seeing Michonne drop that deer like a boss made him realize he's going to have to convince her they unfortunately can't even remotely be bosses around this psycho. 

Don’t get me wrong, Michonne is smart so she’s not going to do anything too recklessly defiant. But Rick knows that any type of defiance could be fatal, so I think the deer drop concerned him a bit. And it also really confirmed to him that Michonne is in a different head space than he’s in right now when it comes to how they view and approach Negan. 

What’s super clear in this scene though, is that Rick truly makes Michonne's happiness one of his top responsibilities, so he’s feeling extra down rn. And luckily we don’t have to wait long before seeing R&M talk it out. 

*But first Rick serves some OG Rick Grimes when he talks to Spencer and tells him to “Say yes.” (Which little did we know would become very special words to us.😋 ) 

*Just a heads up: The following is about the Season Eight sneak peek*

So I mentioned in an earlier post that I only wanted Rick and Michonne to have a baby if it was in the last season...But then I saw that sneak peek last night and this happened...

And, y’all, I make mistakes and I learn my lessons lol.  

I really want Rick and Michonne to have a baby! It doesn’t have to be soon, but I’m def fully on board for this now. Something about Rick’s line in this sneak peek just triggered me and I immediately got on the Richonne baby train. 

And I acknowledge that Rick might have just strictly meant he’s ready to just be Rick “the dad” and “husband” after the war and let someone else lead. But with Maggie talking about trimesters, and Ezekiel talking about fighting for the children to come, like there was just some serious baby vibes in this scene and I was so here for it lol. 

I heard this line and I was really like, “Rick, bruh, I need you to please elaborate on this. Like what exactly do you mean? Cuz I’m low key getting baby vibes from this ambiguous statement.” Even just the possible implication that Rick is open to having a child with Michonne made me so happy. 

Wanting a kid might not even be remotely what Rick was referencing in this scene, and y’all probably have much better insight on it than me. But either way, it made me much more excited about the idea of Richonne having a kid. (Y’all know I’m a little late to the party sometimes.😂  But I’m here now!) 

Anyways, just thought I’d give an update lol. Cuz I was hesitant about a Richonne baby and then, the minute I heard this line, this was literally me...
